Change, empowerment, and community through storytelling on Substack.
I grew up in a small, ferry‑access community where life moved slowly, people looked out for one another, and stories were the threads that held everything together. That early sense of connection shaped me, and it’s what brings me to blogging today. Writing gives me a place to pause, reflect, and make sense of how community, safety, and growth show up in our lives, especially in a world that rarely slows down on its own.
Substack is a space where I share those reflections. Some pieces are nostalgic, some are tender, some are simply honest. All of them are written with the hope that you’ll feel a little less alone, a little more grounded, and maybe even a little inspired to explore your own stories.
Hopefully, by looking through this site, you will see how easy it is to start sharing your own stories and find your community.
Many unconventional individuals are overlooked in leadership identification, arguing that institutional labels and “status language” shape who is seen as a leader and who sees themselves as one. This is especially true for support staff doing leadership work without formal authority. Leadership has nothing to do with degrees and certifications. Leadership is all about the courage to be yourself. I hope to help people find their voice through their stories.
Every person on this earth has something unique to offer. I believe that through open conversations, dialogue, connections, and reflection, everyone can find their own voice
This was the first post where I felt like I truly had something to share. After publishing it, I sent it to some friends from the island I grew up on; many told me it put into words a feeling they had always struggled to explain. When I posted it to a community page, my high school English teacher reached out to me. The entire experience was a powerful reminder that it's never too late to stretch your comfort zone, even at 50.
